Te Ao Māori News Social Media Posts

The project increased follower growth by 5-10% and increased link clicks by 200 per week by growing an engaged audience in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

The Te Ao Māori News social media posts were developed through extensive research into the users of the Te Ao Māori News social media channels, alongside competitor analysis to better understand audience behaviour and the user journey when engaging with the platform.

The process began with developing detailed user personas by mapping demographics and analysing what users say, do, think, and feel, and identifying their goals and pain points. This research provided valuable insights into the audience's needs and informed the direction of the social media content strategy.

The research revealed that the audience wanted content that allowed them to connect with Māori culture, engage with current affairs, and support Māori businesses. An important opportunity identified through this process was the ability for Māori business owners to advertise through the Te Ao Māori News platform and reach both local and international audiences. With Te Ao Māori News already having a strong following in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas, the platform offered a valuable space for Māori businesses to expand their visibility to a wider global audience.

During the design phase, several iterations of the social media posts were created and refined. Each iteration strengthened the visual identity and helped develop a cohesive design system that reinforced the Te Ao Māori News brand. This approach ensured the content remained visually consistent and competitive within the highly saturated news media landscape.

The final designs incorporate elements of Māori culture and draw from the colour palette and visual style of the Te Ao Māori News website, creating a strong and recognisable brand presence across social media platforms.
